Fatal accident in eastern Crimea: child passenger in minivan dies

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Leninsky District is establishing the circumstances of a traffic accident in the east of Crimea in which a child died. The accident, which took the life of a 9-year-old girl, happened this afternoon, at 12:30, near the village of Belinskoye, on the Kerch-Chistopolye-Novootradnoye highway.
The driver, born in 1984, driving an Opel Vivaro moving in the direction of the village of Novootradnoye, did not choose a safe speed, lost control, as a result of which he allowed the vehicle to go off the road to the left with subsequent overturning. As a result of the traffic accident, a minor passenger, born in 2015, was fatally injured. The driver and four passengers (including 1 child) received injuries of varying severity and were taken to a medical facility— the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reported.
In total, there were 9 people in the minivan, including 5 minors, in addition to the driver. The police are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. The Crimean prosecutor’s office is also conducting an investigation. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being decided.
