Fatal accident in Nizhnegorsk district of Crimea: driver fell asleep at the wheel… but he was not the one who died

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate is establishing the circumstances of a fatal accident in the Nizhnegorsk district of Crimea. The tragedy occurred this night (at 1:15) on the Tavrida-Dzhankoy-Krasnoperekopsk highway, near the village of Mezhevoye.

The driver of the LADA GRANTA, born in 2004, fell asleep at the wheel, as a result of which he drove into the lane intended for oncoming traffic, where he collided with the DAEWOO NEXIA, driven by a driver born in 1996. As a result of the accident, the driver of the DAEWOO NEXIA was fatally injured. The passenger of the DAEWOO NEXIA, as well as the driver and passenger of the LADA GRANTA, received injuries of varying severity and were taken to a medical facility.— the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reported.

Based on the accident, the internal affairs agencies are currently conducting a preliminary investigation and establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
