Fatal accident on Tavrida highway: driver did not notice stopped truck

In Crimea, police officers are investigating a traffic accident in which two people died, including a minor. The terrible accident, in which 6 people were injured, occurred at night (at 23:35) on July 20 on the Tavrida highway, near the village of Zhemchuzhina Krym in the Kirovsky district.

The 26-year-old driver of an Opel Vivaro, driving from Kerch towards Simferopol, drove off the roadway on the right, where he hit a parked Scania vehicle, which was parked on the side of the road due to a technical malfunction with an emergency stop sign.

As a result of the road accident, a 27-year-old passenger of the Opel Vivaro was fatally injured. Four passengers received injuries of varying severity and were taken to a medical facility, where a 16-year-old passenger died— the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reported.

There were a total of 7 people in the Opel Vivaro minivan.

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate officers worked at the scene of the accident. The investigation is being conducted by the Crimean Prosecutor’s Office. The materials collected by the police officers have been transferred to the investigative bodies for a procedural decision.
