February 28 – Onisim-Zimobor
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Onisim-Zimobor or Onisim Shepherd is a wonderful day on which, people believed, winter was angry with spring for driving it out of the yard. And on these days the weather was almost always frosty. But be that as it may, our ancestors greeted and said goodbye to February 28 joyfully — after all, the calendar is moving to a new warm season.
The signs are:
- The weather on this day is used to judge whether the month of September will be warm or cold. They say: “As Onesimus called, so September called out” or “On Onesimus the Shepherd, winter becomes hornless.”
- The wind blows from the east — there will be sandstorms in the summer.
- A scarlet sunset portends a strong snowstorm.
- A bright and full moon is visible in the sky — the cold weather will not subside yet.
Please note: on this day you cannot make plans for the future — your plans will not come true.
Name days are celebrated today by: Alexey, Arseny, Afanasy, Euphrosyne, Ivan, Mikhail, Nikolay, Pavel, Paphnuty, Peter, Semyon, Sophia.
