February was relatively dry, but the Crimean reservoirs were replenished by melted snow in the mountains
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Compared to January and December, in February the amount of precipitation in the river basins was 2.5 — 3 times less. This was reported by the Crimean Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. Precipitation fell in the form of rain, sleet and snow. In mountainous areas, the final snow removal was observed on February 25. By the end of winter, a slight snow cover occurs in places in gullies and ravines at an altitude of more than 1,000 meters.
Abnormally warm weather contributed to the melting of snow residues in mountainous areas, due to which increased water availability was maintained in the river basins of the northern foothills. It turned out to be especially high in the middle and lower reaches of the main rivers Alma, Kacha, Belbek, Chernaya, Salgir and Biyuk-Karasu due to water discharges from reservoirs located in the upper reacheshydrologists noted.
The influx of water into the reservoirs in February (in millions of cubic meters) was: Belogorskoye — 10.9, Simferopolskoye — 6.8, Schastlivenskoye — 3.1, Partizanskoye — 7.4, Chernorechenskoye — 12.2.
By the beginning of spring, the total total volume of water in reservoirs located in river beds amounted to 204.224 million cubic meters, which is 3.824 million cubic meters more than a month ago.
