Fire season in Crimea. What you need to know

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The fire season is the period of time of the year from the moment the snow cover melts until the onset of stable rainy autumn weather or the formation of snow cover. According to statistics, the causes of more than 90% of the fires that occurred in the spring-summer fire hazard period are the burning of dry grass, the burning of garbage near buildings, abandoned cigarette butts that have not been extinguished, and the prank of children with fire. Indeed, in hot, dry weather, a spark is enough to ignite a fire, the consequences of which can be the most tragic. During the fire hazard period, in order to prevent the occurrence of natural fires, their spread and approach to settlements, you must take care of the safety of your private residential area and (or) suburban area in advance:

  • it should be remembered that, in accordance with the Rules of the fire regime in the Russian Federation, «it is not allowed to burn waste and containers in places located at a distance of less than 50 meters from objects.»
  • territories of settlements and organizations, within fire-prevention distances between buildings, structures and open warehouses, as well as areas adjacent to residential buildings, summer cottages and other buildings, must be promptly cleaned of combustible waste, garbage, containers, fallen leaves, dry grass, etc. . P.
  • on the territory of private residential buildings and country houses, it is necessary to have primary fire extinguishing equipment (a barrel of water, a fire extinguisher, a shovel)
  • burn garbage and leaves only in a specially designated place away from forests, fences, buildings and residential buildings.
  • in conditions of stable dry and windy weather, upon receipt of a storm warning, as well as in the event of the introduction of a special fire regime, do not allow fire hazardous work, burning garbage and dry vegetation, making fires;
  • do not leave containers with flammable and combustible liquids, combustible gases in open areas near buildings.
  • in the case of a land plot located near a forest, provide work on the creation of fire-prevention mineralized strips;
  • do not allow children to play with matches, lighters and other sources of open flame, because children’s prank is one of the most common causes of fires!

If a natural fire is detected, immediately warn nearby people and try to leave the danger zone. And report the incident by calling «101» or «112».
