Fisherman's Day will be celebrated in Kerch: what to see and what to try

On July 8 and 9, the Day of the Fisherman will be celebrated in Kerch. Various events will be organized at different venues: master classes, sports competitions, free tours, an exhibition and a gastronomic festival. More details — says Tourist portal of Crimea.

Kerch is not only the Hero City and the eastern gate of Crimea, it is also called the fishing capital of the peninsula. Fishing has been the main occupation here for many years. In Soviet times, the city began to celebrate Fisherman’s Day every second Sunday in July. At this time, fishing is just gaining momentum, and Kerch has something to treat and surprise vacationers, the city administration notes. One of the key events of the holiday, as usual, will be a large fish fair.

On Saturday, July 8, the festival of colors «Bright Crimea» will be held on the city beach No. 1. As part of the event, children’s artist Alexander Miller will teach how to paint plaster figurines. Start time: at 11:00 and 14:30.

Saturday and Sunday from morning to evening on the square. There will be a festive remote trade in Lenin Square, a hand-made exhibition in the Mira Square, where masters of arts and crafts will present their goods, and boat trips will be organized in the waters of the Kerch Strait.

At the same time, rides will operate on the city embankment both days off.

And on July 9, the gastronomic festival «Fish Feast» will be held here.

In honor of Fisherman’s Day, entrepreneurs working on the embankment will decorate their catering outlets thematically, and visitors will be able to taste seafood dishes. The menu will include mussels, shrimps, grilled mackerel and dorado, fried red mullet and horse mackerel, tempura and panko shrimps, julienne from rapans, mussels in shells, french horse mackerel. Also, guests will be offered excellent snacks for beer: shrimp in batter, fish fingers, squid ringsthe organizers said.

The festival will run from 11:00 until late in the evening.

Even more events are planned for Sunday in Kerch. For example, throughout the day, events will be held on city beach No. 1: from 10:00 — beach volleyball competitions, from 11:00 — kettlebell lifting competition, at 11:00 and 12:30 — master classes in making toys .

The Museum of Marine Flora and Fauna YUGNIRO (Sverdlov St., 2) will also join the celebration. On Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00, everyone will be able to get acquainted with the exhibits presented here, and for free.

Also, several excursions have been prepared for the Day of the Fisherman in Kerch, which will take place on July 9. Thus, at 11:00 am, collector Viktor Gustoy will give a tour of the Kerch Marine Technological Institute (Ordzhonikidze St., 50). It will be called «Marine business in the history of anchors.» And at 18:00, Elizaveta Kurakina’s author’s excursion “Fish Stories about Kerch” will take place, which will be dedicated to the history of fishing in the city from Antiquity to the present day. Gathering of participants — at the restaurant «Galeon» (Sverdlova street, 1a).

Another excursion — «From Peter’s plan to Catherine’s Mile» — will be held in the area of ​​​​the sea terminal by representatives of the youth excursion bureau «I’ll show my city.» You will be able to see the bust of Peter the Great and the foundation stone with a commemorative plaque in honor of the visit to the city by the first Russian emperor. Tourists will be told about the maritime history of Kerch, as well as about Russian admirals. The journey will start at 17:15, no need to register in advance. Collection — at the bust of Peter the Great at the intersection of Sovetskaya and Kirov streets. The tour is designed for 30 minutes.
