Fishermen — attention! A reward has been announced for the capture of a dangerous sea predator in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Meet grouper. This fish is from the ray-finned family. Habitat: Pacific and Indian Oceans. There they call it “rock perch.” In Crimea — can be found (now) in the Alushta Aquarium.
Found in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. But in the Black Sea it is a rare guest and even dangerous for the local ecosystem. The length of this “fish” ranges from 20 cm to… more than 2.5 m, body weight — from 100 g to… more than 450 kg, yes, yes. The grouper is also a ruthless predator. Moreover, it is omnivorous, thanks to its highly retractable upper jaw.
In Alushta, two groupers were saved from being eaten at once! These are fish that accidentally ended up in the Black Sea. These are not our residents. They grow up to 50 cm and some of their brothers up to TWO METERS. If the fish multiply, they can eat the entire food supply for smaller species, and these are all the inhabitants of the Black Sea.
Dear fishermen — if you catch such a fish, DO NOT EAT — but bring it to the Alushta Aquarium. And we have a reward— appealed on social networks, the head of the Miniature Park in Bakhchisarai, the Alushta Aquarium and the Yalta Crocodilarium, Viktor Zhilenko.
I wonder, in the Alushta Aquarium, the groupers “all ready” will grow to what size?
