Five eight-story buildings will be built on Shchitovaya Street

Architectural design of a residential complex on Shchitovaya Street in the Gagarinsky District, reports «Sevastopolskaya Gazeta»submitted for consideration to the Architectural and Artistic Council of Sevastopol for the second time, after revision of comments and suggestions.

The complex is planned to be located 150 meters from the seashore, not far from Victory Park, with its numerous green spaces. It will have five eight-story buildings with built-in commercial premises on the ground floors and technical premises in the basements. Two houses are supposed to be located on a stylobate, and the stylobate itself will be used to place a parking lot for 96 cars for residents of the complex. An open parking lot for 69 cars will also be located on the territory. With a total need of 195 cars.

The development area should have playgrounds, sports grounds, areas for utility purposes and dog walking. Greenery will make up 25% of the area.

The developers responded to the architectural council’s earlier comments and made changes to the location of the entrance groups. Now the staircases are oriented to the north, and the entrance groups are located on the southern side of the buildings.

The adjustments also affected the facades, in particular, decorative niches and balcony railings were designed. They were closed with blind piers for the convenience of residents, partially with stained glass with metal railings «to secure the beautiful view from the apartments.» Two houses were provided with an exploitable roof with a recreation area for adults. The color of the facades was also brought into compliance with the requirements of the Sevastopol design code. The houses will be creamy white.

The request to conduct archaeological research has not yet been fulfilled. It should be conducted during the design process. The members of the architectural council also considered the proposed landscaping insufficient and recommended using more shade trees.

In general, the members of the architectural council were favourably disposed to the changes made, but still made their next comments. They did not like the «sparse» plasticity of the facades and their fragmentation.

The developers promised to fix, improve and change all of this once again.
