Flood in the Kherson region. Rospotrebnadzor keeps the situation under control, including in Crimea

Rospotrebnadzor will study the state of water in the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea and water bodies in the Kherson region, and will also strengthen control on the North Crimean Canal after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. This was announced today by the press service of the department.

Once every two days, specialists from Rospotrebnadzor will study the state of sea water on the Black Sea coast in the Kherson region and in the Crimea. Enhanced monitoring of water flowing through the North Crimean Canalthe message says.

Specialists will examine the water for microbiological, parasitological, virological, sanitary-chemical and radiological indicators. Monitoring will be regular.

Particular attention is paid to the territory of the Kherson region. There is daily monitoring of the quality of drinking water.

At the moment, in twenty settlements of the Kherson region, including those located downstream of the Dnieper River, 35 samples of drinking water have been taken from the distribution network for research on microbiological and sanitary-chemical indicators. Deviations from the normative indicators were not revealed— noted in Rospotrebnadzor.

In addition, sanitary doctors reminded about the danger and prevention of enterovirus infection during the summer season.

This infection poses a certain danger to due to:

  • non-compliance with the rules of personal hygiene,
  • food in places with unfavorable sanitary conditions,
  • consumption of raw water
  • stay in places with high population density,
  • swimming in open water and places with an unequipped beach area.

EVI bacteria persist for up to 18 days in tap water, for about a month in river water, and for up to two months in treated wastewater.
