Forest litter burned in the area of Mount Stavri-Kaya (Yalta)

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On 28.08 at 21:00, the control panel of the emergency department on duty received a message that a forest litter had ignited on the Ai-Petri plateau in the area of Mount Stavri-Kaya (Yalta). Employees of the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Zapovedny Crimea», including fire and chemical stations, and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea are working on the spot.

The main difficulty in extinguishing was that the fire was located in a hard-to-reach mountainous area — in the gorge of Mount Stavri-Kaya. There was no access for vehicles to the place of fire under these conditions. Getting there without special equipment was not possible. In this regard, it was decided to involve employees of the Yalta emergency rescue team of the GKU RK «CRIMEA-SPAS» in the elimination of the fire. A duty shift of rescuers of 5 people went to the scene. Upon arrival, rescuers, using climbing equipment, assisted in laying hose lines and lowering fire-technical equipment from the Ai-Petri plateau down the slope to the fire. Rescuers also provided insurance for firefighters when extinguishing a fire on steep rocky slopes.— noted in the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Crimea.

Together, the fire was extinguished on August 29 at 13:50. Its area was 500 sq. m. In total, 56 people and 19 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the fire.
