Former head of SevSU department punished for accepting bribes from students

December, agreeing with the position of the public prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the Leninsky district of Sevastopol, the court delivered a guilty verdict against the former head of the department «Navigation and navigation safety» of the Sevastopol State University (SevGU ). He was found guilty of committing three crimes under Part 3 of Art. of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe for illegal actions), and two crimes under Part 1 of Art. 292 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (official forgery).

It was established that in December 2021 of the year, the attacker received from one of the students of the Maritime Institute of the SevGU through an employee of the department of this educational institution, who acted as an intermediary, as a bribe money in in the amount of thousand rubles for positive results in certification without actual testing of knowledge and presence at the exam, as well as for defending a course project.

In March 2022 of the year, through the same intermediary, two more students of the institute received 15 thousand rubles each from each as a bribe for closing the debt on attestation without actually checking knowledge and their presence in the test.

After receiving illegal monetary rewards, he deliberately entered false information about the students’ successful passing of the test, exam and defense of the course project into the test and examination sheets, — the press service of the Sevastopol Prosecutor’s Office reports the details of the case.

The criminal activity of the teacher was suppressed by employees of the UEBiPK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and the investigative committee. The investigation in the criminal case was conducted by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

The Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol, taking into account the opinion of the public prosecutor, sentenced the man to a fine of 292 thousand with deprivation of the right to engage in teaching activities for a period of 3 years. The verdict has not entered into force.

A criminal case was also initiated against the mediator. According to him, the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol has already issued a guilty verdict. She was sentenced to a fine in the amount of 300 thousand rubles.
