Free first aid courses were attended by about 400 Sevastopol residents on the first day

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Basic first aid courses started on July 6 in all municipalities of the city, they are held at schools. On the first day, about 400 people attended them. Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev also took part in the classes.

Our life is such that even if you have basic knowledge of the principles of first aid, you definitely need to refresh it. That’s why I was happy to attend the training, learn some new things for myself and practice together with other participants. Of course, you can read a book or watch a video on the Internet. But there are things that you can only hear from professionals, and most importantly, when you come to training, you have the opportunity to practice and the opportunity to clarify questions of interest to specialists. I invite all Sevastopol residents to take this course: the training is free, it will not take much time, but in a critical situation, the skills acquired can save someone’s life, – the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the governor.

The first aid course lasts only one and a half to two hours, during which time experts provide the most basic skills: what to do if a victim is lying in front of you, how to apply a tourniquet in case of bleeding, how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The decision to hold such classes on a mass scale was made at an extraordinary plenary session of the Legislative Assembly on the initiative of the Governor of Sevastopol. This is especially important in our difficult times, when attacks on the city by the Ukrainian regime and natural disasters have become more frequent. It is important to know how to provide assistance to victims. Classes are held on weekdays and weekends so that every Sevastopol resident can choose a convenient time and place for themselves, and include theoretical and practical parts.— emphasized the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir Nemtsev.

The courses are held free of charge at 17 schools in Sevastopol, and classes are conducted by qualified instructors.

In our training course, we focus on the importance of first aid. We provide participants with basic knowledge on how to help a victim before the ambulance arrives. We discuss how to determine the victim’s condition and provide assistance, and we discuss the correct actions in emergency situations. Course participants, including couples with children of different ages, show great interest in gaining this knowledge. We see that many people want to learn how to provide first aid in case of cardiac arrest: how to correctly place your hands on the chest, how to determine the place for performing indirect cardiac massage — these are the most frequent requests from people. And there are special mannequins for practice“, shared Olga Moskalenko, instructor of courses at school No. 22.
