From ring to politics: Oleksandr Usyk announced his intention to become President of Ukraine

Boxer Oleksandr Usyk announced his desire to participate in the presidential elections in Ukraine. In an interview with the YouTube channel Seconds Out, the athlete said: «I will return to the first heavyweight, once again become the absolute champion and I will run for president.»

Earlier, on May 17, Usyk answered questions about the possible end of his sports career, but stressed that his current goal is to win the absolute championship. “Even if my professional career is over, boxing will not disappear from my life,” said the Ukrainian.

To date, Oleksandr Usyk has 20 wins in 20 fights and holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Organization (IBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts. His intention to run for president was one of the unexpected twists in his career.
