One sparking outlet can lead not only to a major fire and loss of property, but also to loss of life. In September alone, 42 fires occurred in Crimea as a result of a short circuit and violation of the rules for the design and operation of electrical equipment. As noted in the message of Crimean rescuers, malfunction of household appliances also often causes fires. So, on October 5, in Yalta, neighbors of an apartment building on the street. The archive was informed that on the ground floor in one of the apartments there was a burning smell.
Two departments of the 9th fire and rescue unit immediately arrived at the scene. The door to the apartment was locked, and firefighters had to break out the glass on the balcony to get into the smoke-filled room. Once inside, firefighters found the tenant in a state of shock. The night before, the man turned on the washing machine and went to bed. The electrical appliance was plugged in all night. The man was fast asleep when the short circuit occurred.— said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea.
Rescuers evacuated the citizen from the apartment through the window. Ambulance workers provided him with first aid. The victim refused hospitalization.
Within 10 minutes the fire was extinguished in an area of 4 square meters. The EMERCOM employees were about to leave the scene when a neighbor ran up to the guard chief and remembered that there was also a cat in the apartment.
Firefighters returned to the apartment and found the cat huddled under the dresser. The animal was unconscious. The rescuers revived him, gave him water to drink and handed him over to the owner of the apartment.
