Frost in Simferopol. How birds survive the cold in Gagarin Park
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Winter doesn’t let go. It’s frosty at night in Simferopol, and even during the day it’s about zero. So the pond in the Gagarin Park was partially covered with ice. Many city residents are worried that the wild birds on the pond are freezing and starving. “Capital Parks” refutes this opinion.
Wild ducks and swans can comfortably tolerate temperatures down to minus 15 degrees. In addition, the reservoir does not freeze completely and the birds always have access to their main food — algae.
If you want to treat birds, then you should not forget about the peculiarities of their diet. You cannot feed birds bread, salted and fried seeds and potatoes, cookies, and nuts. This food can cause illness and even death— said the specialists of “Capital Parks”.
You can please the inhabitants of the Simferopol reservoir without harm to their health with lettuce leaves, any cooked grain, grated carrots, apples, oatmeal or special food from vending machines installed on the shore of the pond in the Gagarin Park.
