The Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office checked the compliance with the requirements of the legislation in the field of production and consumption waste management.
During the check in the area of the Kalfa cemetery, to the right of the highway towards Cape Fiolent, the fact of unauthorized disposal of soil waste formed during excavation, interspersed with natural stone, broken concrete, coarse stones and broken shell rock, was revealed. The landfill is located on lands belonging to the city of Sevastopol. The total area of contamination was 200 m2. The environmental prosecutor sent a statement of claim to the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol on imposing on the Department of Municipal Economy the obligation to liquidate the landfill— reported the press service of the department.
The prosecutor’s claim was satisfied. The execution of the court decision and the actual elimination of violations are under the control of the prosecutor’s office.
