Governor of Sevastopol — on the appointment of Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) as head of the Crimean Metropolis
CrimeaPRESS reports:
As we already reported, by decision of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) was appointed head of the Crimean Metropolis. Comment by Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev:
This is a great responsibility. On a personal note, I will say that I am very glad that Vladyka Tikhon will now be even closer to us. For a long time he has been paying great attention to Sevastopol. Thanks to him, large-scale work was carried out on the territory of the Tauride Chersonesos museum-reserve to create a special museum space, and the Heritage Volunteers movement appeared. Vladyka Tikhon said: “The spiritual quest of humanity, its path to knowledge of the Highest Truth can be traced here, in Chersonesos, like nowhere else.”
It was he who came up with the idea of creating a large-scale project for the historical and archaeological park “Tavrichesky Chersonese”. Thanks to this, we have a unique Children’s Art School; the largest archaeological excavations in recent decades have been carried out on the territories of military units adjacent to the Tauride Chersonese museum complex. I communicate a lot with Vladyka Tikhon, and I can say that for him this is not just a project. This is his great mission to revive the heritage of Christianity.
