Grain harvest in Crimea has decreased

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, 2.04 million tons of grain were harvested in 2023. In May, the Ministry reported that grain crops with a total area of 7.8 thousand hectares were damaged by drought and other natural phenomena in four districts of the Republic of Crimea.
Crimean farmers have threshed one and a half million tons of grain. This volume is enough to ensure food security for our region, he wrote in his Telegram channel.
The head of the region noted the good results of the harvest despite difficult weather conditions this year.
The gross grain harvest in the Republic of Crimea has grown by almost 62% since the peninsula’s reunification with Russia in 2014. In 2023, 2.04 million tons of grain were harvested, and in 2015 — 1.263 million tons. From 1990 to 2015, the gross harvest indicator decreased: in 1990 it was 1.988 million tons, in 1995 — 1.505 million tons, in 2000 — 1.064 million tons. Also, over 10 years, the sown area of grain and legume crops in the republic has increased by more than 30%.
