Greater Yalta is among the top popular destinations for hiking tourism

CrimeaPRESS reports:

November 17th is Hiking Day. Despite the development of various types of transport, including environmentally safe ones, one of the most useful types of travel is “on your own two feet”.

In honor of Hiking Day, the Russian vacation rental booking service TVIL.RU conducted a survey on social networks: what direction do our subscribers prefer for hiking? Baikal was in first place, Big Yalta was in second, and Karelia was in third.

1. Baikal was chosen by 28% of voters. The amazing “glorious sea” with the purest water, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, continues to attract tourists who walk along the Great Baikal Trail, along the sleepers of the Circum-Baikal Railway, discovering something new at every turn.

2. In second place is Big Yalta, this is the choice of 22% of subscribers. There are amazing places here — mountains, sea, clean air… Tourists have access to the Tsar’s, Romanov’s, Botkin’s trails… And despite the difficulties with Crimean logistics, the number of lovers of these routes does not decrease.

3. In third place is Karelia, which was chosen by 17% of voting participants. Hiking here can begin with the simplest routes in the vicinity of the city of Petrozavodsk. For example, to the Botanical Garden and the Devil’s Chair tract. There, from Petrozavodsk Bay there is a magnificent view of the waters of Lake Onega.

4. The Black Sea coast of the Caucasus collected 15% of the votes. There are a huge number of routes here — in the Sochi National Park, the Black Sea coast, in the vicinity of Tuapse, Gelendzhik. We are sure that everyone will find a trail in these magnificent places to their liking and strength.

5. 9% of voting participants voted for Valdai. The Great Valdai Trail is a walking route for several days, during which you can see several ecosystems at once — a spruce forest, a broad-leaved grove, a forest, rivers, lakes and swamps. The central part of the route passes through the territory of a specially protected zone of the national park.

6. Stavropol Territory was chosen by 7% of subscribers. There are countless pedestrian routes here — from Kislovodsk, Zheleznovodsk, Pyatigorsk. You can climb Mount Mashuk, Beshtau, Big and Small Saddle — the routes are considered quite simple even for novice tourists.

7. Dagestan was chosen by 5% of all voters. Hiking here is popular at any time of the year, but is especially good in summer and autumn. The Great Caucasus Trail invites you to go from the city of Makhachkala to the ghostly village of Gamsutl, then to the village of Gunib, not far from which are the Gunibsky waterfall and the Gunibsky fortress. Next awaits Mount Mayak and the Karadakh Gorge. But this is only one, albeit quite common, route…

8. The Moscow region received 4% of the votes. Indeed, many people do not want to go far from the capital for hiking tourism. But the area of the Moscow region exceeds the area of some European countries and there really is where to go and what to see.

9. Voronezh region was chosen by 2% of voters. Here you can walk along the Great Voronezh Eco-Trail, go to the Nikola Lenivets art park, and the Divnogorye Museum-Reserve.

10. Primorsky Krai collected 1% of the votes. It’s strange that there are so few. But there are a great many trekking routes here. Hiking trails lead through varied landscapes — taiga, harsh rocky shores, hills, canyons and even subtropical jungle. Getting there, of course, is long and expensive — but it’s worth it, believe me!

*The survey included multiple choice options
