The festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the story «Scarlet Sails» and its author Alexander Grin.
From August 20 to 23, the Republican art festival «Meetings in Zurbagan», dedicated to the birthday of the writer Alexander Grin, will be held for the 18th time in Feodosia. According to Tourist portal of Crimea, this year the event is also timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the fairy tale «Scarlet Sails». Exhibitions, a concert, a quiz, a literary and musical program are being prepared for guests.
Traditionally, «Meetings in Zurbagan» will be held at the Feodosiya Literary and Memorial Museum of Alexander Grin. Most of the festival events are organized in honor of the anniversary of one of the most famous works of the writer — Scarlet Sails. The book with the story of the girl Assol, who lives in a poor fishing village and dreams of meeting the captain of the ship, was first published in January 1923. Alexander Stepanovich dedicated the story to his second wife, Nina Nikolaevna.
As told in the Feodosia museum, the grand opening of the festival will take place on August 20 at 12:00. The first event will be the opening of a mini-exhibition of children’s drawings «100 years of «Scarlet Sails» by Alexander Grin.» The works presented here are stored in the funds of the museum. And at 17:00, the literary and musical program “The Ballad of Scarlet Sails” will begin, in which Crimean bards will take part.
On the second festival day at 12:00, the museum will present another exhibition — «Green’s portraits — as a gift to the museum.» The exposition will show how modern artists Denis Gubarev (Simferopol), Konstantin Miroshnik (Moscow) and Valery Guseletov (Volgograd) see the work of Alexander Grin. Four hours later, a concert will take place, at which Simferopol pianist Anastasia Popova and Moscow cellist Nikolai Egorov will play.
The third festival day will begin with events for children: at 11:00 a video film “Feodosiya schoolchildren read “Scarlet Sails” is scheduled to be shown, at 11:30 – a quiz and an interactive game based on “Scarlet Sails”. And at 16:00, everyone will be able to visit the “Ringing String” program — a creative evening with the director, actress and poetess from Tomsk, Lyubov Bobina.
On August 23 at 10:00 a.m. there will be a special cancellation of postcards for the anniversary of the Scarlet Sails and the 100th anniversary of the artist Savva Brodsky. The festival will end with a gala concert, which will begin at 16:00.
