In Sevastopol, the prosecutor’s office approved the indictment in a criminal case against a resident of the city of Kolomna, Moscow Region, born in 1986. He is charged under paragraph “c” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft committed by a group of persons, with illegal entry into the premises, on a large scale).
According to investigators, the man, together with his accomplice, arrived in Sevastopol in August 2022 to steal the property of a local religious organization. On the night of August 14-15, through a stained-glass window, one of them entered the premises of the St. Nicholas Church-monument on the street. Bogdanova, 43, in the city of Sevastopol, while the second one monitored the situation below. They stole jewelry from the temple: gold rings, chains, pendants, pectoral crosses and earrings. In addition, the men broke the protective glass on the icons of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra and the Mother of God of Jerusalem. Thus, the attackers caused the Orthodox parish of the temple material damage in the amount of more than 820 thousand rubles.— reports the press service of the prosecutor’s office of Sevastopol.
Police officers quickly identified the persons involved in the crime. The investigation into the criminal case was carried out by the investigative department of the MIA of Russia for the Nakhimovsky district. One of the accused was taken into custody. His accomplice has been put on the wanted list. During the investigation, the stolen property was confiscated and returned to the church.
The district prosecutor’s office sent the criminal case to the Nakhimovsky District Court of Sevastopol for consideration on the merits.
