Half of Crimea's residents regularly engage in sports. The other half are not friends with physical education

More than 50 thousand Crimeans passed the GTO standards.
Over the past ten years, the number of residents of the peninsula who regularly engage in physical culture and sports has increased by 3.5 times. Today, this figure is 55% of the total population of Crimea. This was reported by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Crimea Olga Torubarova during a live broadcast organized by the Center for Regional Management of the Republic of Crimea.
In 2014, 258 thousand people or 13% of the total population of Crimea were regularly involved in sports. And today this figure is 940 thousand residents of the republic or 55%. By 2030, we should reach the figure of 70%– noted Olga Torubarova.
She emphasized that the number of participants in the All-Russian physical culture and sports complex “Ready for Labor and Defense” (GTO) is also growing.
To date, more than 50 thousand Crimeans have taken part in passing the GTO standards. About 20 thousand people have badges of different denominations (gold, silver and bronze).– the minister said.
Olga Torubarova noted that the youngest Crimean who passed the GTO was only six years old. And the oldest who passed the standards and received a gold badge was 97-year-old Yalta resident Anatoly Yakovlevich Medved. He is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, went to the front as a volunteer, adding a year to his age.
You can pass the GTO standards in any region of the republic — testing centers operate in every municipality.
Also during the live broadcast organized by the Regional Management Center of the Republic of Crimea, Olga Torubarova spoke about the construction of new sports facilities, receiving a tax deduction for sports activities and answered other questions of concern to Crimeans.
