Since the creation of the world, every person has been looking for his soul mate. Stories of meetings and partings will exist as long as love exists. This is exactly what the new play “He and She” by the Sevastopol Academic Dance Theater named after. Elizarova. The premiere of the production, which will incorporate the best examples of world musicals, will be shown in March, reports Tourist portal of Crimea.
The play is a love story that took place in a fictional city, within the walls of a small cabaret theater. Once upon a time the main characters met. She is the owner of the theater and the star of the stage. He is an entertainer who decided to change his destiny after hearing Her voice one day. And then this wonderful couple broke up. But perhaps all is not lost yet?..
The author of the production is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Olga Pankratova. She also plays the main role. As planned, it should be a performance within a performance — with the simultaneous development of several storylines. That is, the viewer will be told the story of the main characters, shown a show for the cabaret theater and even revealed the secrets of the backstage, Olga Pankratova told the Travel Crimea travel portal.
According to her, the premiere will harmoniously combine hits from the world’s best musicals — such as Cabaret, Moulin Rouge, Burlesque, as well as songs by Russian authors. And, of course, there will be a lot of partner dances — rumba, quickstep, Argentine tango. In addition, the atmosphere of passionate feelings will be emphasized by jazz choreography. The choreographer, Honored Artist of the Republic of Crimea Natalya Ivanova, is responsible for the beauty and organicity of the movements.
The scenographic design is also intended to impress theatergoers. Instead of the usual cabaret tables, there are movable seats for spectators and spectacular lighting based on the principle of a dressing room mirror with light bulbs.
It is important for us to create a living performance, filled with events and some metaphors. So that this is not just a concert with consecutive numbers. Therefore, we decided to make our performance one-act, it will be very fast-paced, light, and will immerse the viewer in the bright world of cabaret. Well, and, of course, it will show true love between a man and a woman who are ready to sacrifice a lot for each other,” noted Olga Pankratova.
Her romantic partner on stage will be Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Vitaly Taganov. The artists and guests of the cabaret theater will be played by dancers of the Sevastopol Academic Dance Theater named after Elizarov.
