Employees of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Balaklava District stopped the illegal activities of a resident of Balaklava.
The operatives found that on the night of February 17, a 62-year-old woman, using a paint brush and cans of paint, applied Ukrainian symbols to the walls of houses, fences and benches located on the central streets of Balaklava, as well as in places of rest for citizens. This caused a significant public outcry and indignation of the inhabitants of the hero city of Sevastopol. The amount of material damage caused as a result of its illegal activities is established— reported the details of the story in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
The pensioner confessed to the offense and said that she applied the drawings for political reasons.
A criminal case was initiated against a resident of Balaklava on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Vandalism». The maximum sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to three years. Currently, all the circumstances of the crime committed are being established, eyewitnesses are being interviewed by the police, recordings from CCTV cameras have been seized for the purpose of studying them.
