He stole a TV, sold it for… 200 rubles — now he can go to jail for 6 years. Case in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, police detained a visiting man suspected of theft with illegal entry into a home. As the city Department of Internal Affairs clarified, taking advantage of the gullibility of a Sevastopol resident, the attacker stole his TV.
It has been previously established that a 32-year-old man of no fixed abode, leading a vagabond lifestyle, met a 51-year-old local resident in Sevastopol, who, after a heart-to-heart conversation, invited him to spend the night with him. During a joint feast, a conflict arose between the new friends, as a result of which the angry owner of the apartment kicked his guest out onto the street and left on business. After making sure that the owner of the square meters was out of sight, the man returned, picked the lock of the front door of the home, secretly got inside, stole the TV and disappeared.
When his attempts to sell the stolen equipment to a pawnshop were unsuccessful, the attacker sold the TV to random passers-by for 200 rubles. He spent the money he obtained from crime on alcoholic drinks.— said the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
Having discovered missing household appliances, the victim contacted the police. As a result of the measures taken, according to the available information, officers of the patrol service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district detained the suspect.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 6 years. The defendant was taken into custody.
