Head of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov: “St. Luke said that the main thing in life is to do good to people”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Commentary by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov on the Day of Remembrance of St. Luke (Voyno-Yasenetsky).
On June 11, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, an outstanding surgeon, scientist and theologian.
Saint Luke is revered by millions of people. This veneration has a simple and understandable reason: in response to their prayers, people receive miraculous help and healing. Thousands of such cases have been documented, and no one knows how many actually occur. Except the Lord and the saint himself.
The life of our «heavenly countryman» is a great spiritual and moral example for everyone. According to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, the saint is recognized not in loud words and grandiose deeds, but in everyday affairs, in the ability to courageously and steadfastly endure trials, “hoping in everything in the good will and wise providence of God.”
And the saint himself said that the main thing in life is to do good to people, and if you cannot “do great good, try to do at least a small one.”
That is how we will do it. Happy holiday, brothers and sisters! — says the commentary of the Head of the Republic.
