Honorary consulates of Abkhazia and South Ossetia will be created in Crimea

The authorities of the Republic of Crimea, Abkhazia and South Ossetia are interested in opening honorary consulates on the peninsula, reported TASS Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers — Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of Russia Georgy Muradov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Both Abkhazia and South Ossetia are countries with which we are cooperating on the issue of creating honorary consulates in Crimea. There is such a prospect with Latin American and African countries interested in cooperation with Crimea— he said.

Muradov explained that the task of such representative offices in the regions is to provide consular assistance, assistance to citizens of another country, and also work to develop mutually beneficial ties between both parties.

However, the decision to open an honorary consulate is made through the ministries of foreign affairs and other government bodies of interested parties“, the interlocutor added.
