Hotel booking depth has increased significantly in Crimea

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The depth of hotel bookings in Crimea, compared to the period two or three years ago, has increased from two weeks to 120-180 days, with isolated cancellations being observed due to tourists postponing their arrival to a later date, reported TASS Deputy Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic Sergei Gulyuk.

About two or three years ago the booking depth was a maximum of two weeks, now the booking depth, many hoteliers notice that it is 120, 130 days, there are hotels, some have 180 days. People started planning their vacations in advance— said the agency’s interlocutor.

According to the Deputy Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic, it is expected that in 2024 the number of tourists visiting the peninsula will be at least 5.2 million people. The tourist flow at the same level was recorded at the end of 2023.

Increase in the number of tourists and hotel occupancy in the off-season

In early July, the Russian Union of Travel Industry noted that the decline in bookings of tours to the Crimean Peninsula and Dagestan persisted after a week of tragic events in these regions on June 23: the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Sevastopol and terrorist attacks in Derbent and Makhachkala. According to data provided by one of the largest tour operators, Alean, in the first days after the events in Crimea, the share of cancellations was higher than usual, but by the middle of the week the situation had returned to normal. As Gulyuk noted, isolated cancellations of bookings in Crimea are largely due to the postponement of the arrival of tourists to a later date.

So everything is fine, everything is fine with the loading. As of July 1, for the first half of the year [2024 года] — a 15% increase in the number of tourists compared to last year, if we talk about June — plus 25% compared to last year, and today the occupancy rate is 54%. The booking level for July-August is 49-52%. Overall, everything is good— the agency’s interlocutor noted.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister emphasized, the Crimean authorities will have to step up work on loading accommodation facilities in the off-season, including by strengthening the direction of health improvement for preferential categories. For example, the issue of providing preferential prices for accommodation of participants in a special military operation and their family members is being worked out at a number of facilities in Crimea.
