Houses for ducks appeared on the Baibuga River in Feodosia
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Volunteers from the Feodosia Development Center installed several houses for ducks on the Baibuga River in the area of Nasypnaya and Fedko streets. The houses will serve as safety islands for birds and their offspring. Such structures help waterfowl survive difficult temperatures and serve as a place for them to sleep and rest.
Last year, my team and I cleared more than two kilometers of the Baibuga riverbed from the Kerch highway to the Black Sea embankment for the first time in the last 50 years — from the moment the river was “dressed” in concrete, says the head of the ANO “Feodosia Development Center” Evgeny Ignatiev. – We approached the cleaning in a comprehensive manner, involving a large number of people and heavy equipment. During 3 months of work, we managed to remove 5.5 thousand cubic meters of garbage — tires, reeds, silt and more. And now we continue to monitor the sanitary condition of the river. Interestingly, after cleaning the riverbed, ducks settled on the river, and we decided to create comfortable living conditions for them. People enjoy watching them and want the birds to stay in the city longer. Residents of the houses closest to the river say that now the ducks have just started laying eggs, so the houses will be very useful. Each of us is responsible for the environment in one way or another.
The houses are made from environmentally friendly materials. There is a straw bedding inside — it retains heat during the cold season and absorbs moisture, which helps keep the inside of the house clean and dry.
Volunteers also cleaned the area — now this is a regular event: once every 2 weeks the team of the Feodosia Development Center holds clean-up days on Baybug, every resident of the city can join them.
According to Evgeny Ignatiev, Baybugu and the surrounding areas can be made an attractive place for tourists and a comfortable place for residents to relax.
