How do the participants of the “History of Sevastopol in Persons” competition see the future?

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Young builders and architects notes «Sevastopol newspaper»we are confident that a metro will be built in Sevastopol, “hanging” gardens will be created, an improved tram will be launched, the design of modern buildings will be borrowed from the sea, and the ancient city will organically merge into the modern one.

The “History of Sevastopol in Persons” competition, dedicated to the 240th anniversary of the founding of Sevastopol, recently ended. The category “Creative Future” — how I see the future of Sevastopol — was one of five competitive nominations. “Sevastopolskaya Gazeta” got acquainted with the works of the participants, because some youth ideas deserve attention.

Improved tram

The winner in the category about the future of his native city was Vladislav Shishkin, a student at the Sevastopol College of Architecture and Construction. He dedicated his work to improving urban public transport. In the presentation, the young man said that he wanted to offer innovative solutions that would help improve the quality of public transport and make it accessible and comfortable for everyone.

According to V. Shishkin, something is wrong in Sevastopol today: both the population and the number of transport are growing, the traffic is heavy, the air is dirty. To solve these problems, the young man suggests remembering the good old tram. In his opinion, thanks to the coupling of cars into a train, this type of transport will ensure a large passenger flow.

I believe that in the future in Sevastopol, along with buses and trolleybuses, a tram will be put into operation. But not a simple one, but an improved one, which will move along a marked lane. This type of tram perfectly combines high speed, environmental friendliness, noiselessness and spaciousness, which is very important for the transport of the future— V. Shishkin is sure.

Sevastopol metro

The winner of the second prize, also a student of the Sevastopol College of Architecture and Construction, Elena Andreeva, tried to develop the transport theme in her work.

I see one urban problem that I want to solve — traffic jams on Sevastopol roads. I associate the future of Sevastopol with the advent of the metro. It is convenient, practical and will improve the lives of residentssays the girl.

She dreams that it will not be just a metro, but a real underground architectural object. The walls will be decorated with marble, the halls with columns, the ceiling with stucco moldings and chandeliers in the Baroque style. The metro will unite the city divided by the bay into a single whole. Since many people associate Sevastopol with the Black Sea, it was the maritime theme that she reflected in the logo of the future metro.

City of contrasts

Third place was awarded to a student from school No. 2 from the city of Antratsit, Lugansk People’s Republic, Ksenia Finogeeva. Fascinated by the beauty and history of Sevastopol, the girl drew how she sees the city in the future.

My work shows the appearance of a city in the distant future. I think, even though many years will pass and many modern buildings will be built, people will still preserve all historical and cultural buildings. After all, we must not forget history! — K. Finogenova believes.

Modern and eco-friendly

The fashionable environmental theme inspired two students Arina Tkach and Arina Medved from the Sevastopol Construction College to participate in the competition.

According to the first contestant, despite its uniqueness, Sevastopol still needs improvement. It is necessary to stop deforestation, clean and never pollute the air and water bodies in the future, and create highly artistic cultural complexes and public spaces for the soul and relaxation.

Her classmate A. Medved is worried about Sevastopol winters with cold northern winds and monochrome landscapes. The girl likes the city better in warm weather, when everything is blooming and green. So that summer does not end, she proposes to build public winter gardens, where everyone will enjoy the beauty of plants, inhale the aromas of flowers, where they can work on the computer in silence, do homework and catch inspiration.

This will be a truly unique place! I hope someone will implement this difficult idea, or when I become an experienced specialist, I will take on such work myself— A. Medved dreamed.

More than two thousand works from different parts of our country were submitted to the competition “History of Sevastopol in Faces”, dedicated to the 240th anniversary of Sevastopol, from students of educational institutions aged 14 to 18 years.

The competitive marathon lasted almost six months and ended with the creation of a digital gallery telling about the heroic history of Sevastopol, its past, present and future through the destinies of real people who glorified it.
