How Russia Day was celebrated in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On Russia Day, many festive events took place in Sevastopol. Traditionally, the day began with laying flowers at the Eternal Flame of the Memorial to the Heroic Defense of Sevastopol in 1941-1942. It was attended by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev, Russian Senator Ekaterina Altabaeva, State Duma deputy Tatyana Lobach, Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Vyacheslav Vitold, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir Nemtsev, members of the Government of Sevastopol, deputies of the Legislative Assembly, veterans, and social activists.

Festive events were also held at the Tauride Chersonese Museum-Reserve. Hundreds of residents and guests of the Hero City came to Chersonesos to celebrate Russia Day.

In the morning, guide Roman Lutsa gave visitors an interactive tour “The Korsun Legend”, telling about the baptism of Grand Duke Vladimir in the ancient city. Then the head of the scientific and archival department of the museum-reserve, Tatyana Prokhorova, and the head of the exhibition department, Pavel Khlebovsky, gave two fascinating lectures — “The role of the royal family in the development of Chersonesos” and “The Russian spirit in the paintings of outstanding painters.”

At the end of the day, in the Byzantine courtyard, visitors to the museum-reserve enjoyed a concert by the pop and brass band of the Folk Art Center.

During the entire event, a crafts fair was held in the Byzantine courtyard of Tauride Chersonesos and creative master classes were held. Children and adults enthusiastically participated in them, and also made postcards to participants of a special military operation as part of the “Letter to a Soldier” campaign, organized with the support of the Sevastopol branch of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” foundation.

In addition, the city hosted a festive concert of creative groups of national and cultural societies of Sevastopol, which was dedicated to Russia Day and the upcoming City Day.

Residents and guests of the city also had the opportunity to attend the presentation of Vladimir Gubanov’s collection “Sea Jazz. Sevastopol Sketches”, which was timed to coincide with the upcoming 241st anniversary of the founding of Sevastopol.

In honor of the holiday, the city also held a traditional “Flag in the Yards” event, during which residents hung Russian flags in their windows and on their houses.

In addition, the “Russian tricolor” campaign took place in Sevastopol. Volunteers handed out ribbons in the colors of the Russian flag to everyone. In total, about 3,000 ribbons were awarded to Sevastopol residents.

There was also a car rally dedicated to the Day of Russia and the Day of Sevastopol. About 100 people took part in it. The organizer was the United Russia party.

The day ended with a festive concert “Both in the heart and in the song — Russia” on the summer stage of Primorsky Boulevard “Rakushka”.
