How Sevastopol public transport will work in the summer

The readiness of public transport to work in the summer was discussed today at an operational meeting chaired by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev. The report was presented by O. Director of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of Sevastopol Stanislav Tamataev.

Stanislav Tamataev said that public transport has already been switched to the summer schedule: the number of vehicles and their working hours have been increased. He also added that most of the city buses and trolleybuses are equipped with air conditioning.

Long-distance trains run on a regular basis on the routes «Sevastopol — Moscow» and «Sevastopol — St. Petersburg». From the beginning of May 2023, additional trains began to run on the Sevastopol-Murmansk, Chelyabinsk-Sevastopol, Ufa-Sevastopol routes. Also, a group of non-transfer cars No. 551/552 «Arkhangelsk — Obozerskaya — Sevastopol» runs as part of the train «Murmansk — Sevastopol». According to Stanislav Tamataev, the stations and infrastructure of the Crimean Railway are operating normally and are ready for an increase in passenger traffic in the summer.

Buses regularly carry passengers on 130 interregional routes between the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as Sevastopol and mainland Russia.

From the city bus station, 10 to 15 interregional flights are operated daily in the direction of Krasnodar, Volgograd, Pyatigorsk, Astrakhan, Novorossiysk, Grozny, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Stavropol, Makhachkala and Moscow.

To date, there is an increased demand for routes in the direction of the city of Sochi. For the convenience of passengers, half of the Sevastopol-Sochi routes have been extended to Adler Airport. The average flight occupancy is about 70%, — notes Stanislav Tamataev.

Every day in the direction «Sevastopol — Moscow» runs two bus trips with a total capacity of 90 people with departure from the bus station. In the first half of June, additional flights will be launched on this route, and seasonal routes Sevastopol — Lipetsk and Sevastopol — St. Petersburg are also planned to be launched.

In addition, as part of preparations for the summer season, the work schedule of all transport infrastructure facilities has been expanded, the capacity of services for passengers at the bus station and bus stations has been increased, in particular, the number of ticket office staff, the information desk and the bus station’s left-luggage office has been increased.

We discussed separately the increased demand among city guests for charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. In 2022, 11 modern high-speed charging stations were installed, and another 16 stations are planned to be installed by the end of 2023.

“Land plots for the installation of 16 stations have been identified, work is underway with energy supply organizations. Our task is to install all stations by September,” Deputy Governor Maria Litovko said.

Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev instructed to work out the issue of encouraging contractors who offer electric car rental services.
