How was Easter celebrated in Tauric Chersonese, the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy?

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Thousands of Sevastopol residents and guests of the hero city celebrated the Holy Resurrection of Christ in Tauric Chersonese. The believers joined the night service, blessed Easter cakes, eggs and other treats, and became participants in the Easter Art Alley family festival, organized by the museum-reserve together with the My History Foundation. All visitors received vivid impressions, sharing with each other the joy of the main Christian holiday.

Already at the entrance to the museum-reserve, guests were greeted by a thematic photo zone, where many took memorable family pictures. The beauty of spring Chersonese, filled with the aroma of herbs and blooming flowers, St. Vladimir Cathedral and the monuments of the ancient city created a special, unforgettable atmosphere.

After the night service and the consecration of the symbols of Easter, many guests joined the concert program of the museum-reserve in the Byzantine courtyard — «The Bright Resurrection of Christ.» Members of the Honored Collective of Folk Art «Rus», the Exemplary Folk Song Ensemble «Kalinka» and the Folk Ensemble «Play, Accordion» performed familiar songs, decorating the celebration and filling it with the enchanting sounds of music.

The little guests of the Easter Art Alley family festival were interested in thematic workshops, where the children acquired the skills of ancient crafts and created handicrafts with their own hands. Children were able to make wooden and clay toys, rag dolls, work on a potter’s wheel and weave bracelets from beads. Many enjoyed joining the mosaic art, created Easter magnets, and those who wished to refresh themselves painted gingerbread cookies. Heroes of fairy tales and cartoons made of bast or clay, and other souvenirs that will surely become a vivid memory of Easter spent in Tauric Chersonesos, came out from under children’s hands that day.— noted in the press service of the museum-reserve.
