“Hunting season” for drunk drivers. The traffic police promise mass checks on the roads of Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
From May 24 to 26, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct an operational and preventive event “Drunk Driver” on the roads of Crimea.
When conducting raids, road patrol inspectors, along with the usual performance of duty, will use the so-called “mass inspection” method, the essence of which is to check the maximum number of drivers on a specific section of the road within a certain period of time, and then move to other points and repeat the procedure— reported the traffic police.
Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will stop cars in predetermined places in special stopping corridors marked with signal cones. At the same time, traffic inspectors will assess the condition of each driver based on visual signs. If there are no signs of intoxication (smell of alcohol, inappropriate behavior, incoherent speech, etc.), drivers will be immediately allowed to continue driving. If there are sufficient grounds to believe that the driver is intoxicated, the prescribed procedural actions will be carried out.
The purpose of “road checks” is to identify and bring to justice drivers who are persistent offenders and those who drive vehicles while intoxicated.
The Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea reminds:
For driving a vehicle while intoxicated, transferring control of a vehicle to a person in a state of intoxication, as well as for the driver’s failure to comply with the requirement to undergo a medical examination for intoxication, administrative liability is provided in the form of a fine in the amount of 30,000 rubles with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for period from 1.5 to 2 years. For repeated commission of the above offenses within a year, criminal liability is provided under Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
