“I didn’t do anything like that” — I went fishing on Lake Donuzlav and ended up “under investigation”

In the Saki region, a Yevpatorian man was convicted of illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources (Part 3 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court found that in June of this year, a 50-year-old fisherman, equipped with a trap gun, caught Black Sea grass shrimp, grass goby, Black Sea silverside, and ocellated wrasse in the waters of Lake Donuzlav of the Black Sea, which is a spawning site and a route to it for these types of biological resources.

The attacker also caught 5 specimens of the thick-snouted needle fish, which is listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Crimea. The man was detained by FSB border control officers with the illegally obtained catch. By his illegal actions, the man caused damage in the amount of more than 360 thousand rubles, which was voluntarily compensated by the convicted person during the trial,” the prosecutor’s office provided details.

The court, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, sentenced the man to 2 years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period for a similar period. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
