I hired a friend to do renovations in my apartment and regretted it a hundred times. Case in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, the police detained a suspect who, through deception, took possession of his friend’s money.
The attacker turned out to be a 32-year-old resident of Astrakhan, previously convicted of theft, who committed another theft of someone else’s property, having been suspended for committing a previous crime— said the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
It was established that a 39-year-old local resident hired his 32-year-old acquaintance as an assistant to perform finishing work in a private house, to whom he transferred money to a bank card to pay for the necessary building materials. Since the employer was absent from the city for a long time, he was not able to control the quality and volume of work performed. As it turned out, instead of buying building materials, his friend stole the funds received in a total amount of more than 103 thousand rubles and spent them on his own needs — he paid off debt obligations and made several purchases.
When the owner of the house returned and discovered that during his absence the finishing work had not been carried out, and tools and building materials had not been purchased, he filed a statement with the police.
Employees of the criminal investigation department No. 1 “Inkerman” of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Balaklava region detained the attacker. The investigative department has opened a criminal case against him under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud committed causing significant damage to a citizen”)— specified in the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
