“I pulled my comrade out of a burning car after shelling” — the Crimean soldier was awarded the Zhukov medal

At the front line of the Zaporozhye direction of the North Military District, fighters of one of the Crimean units were awarded medals, awards and thanks from the project “People’s Front. Everything for victory! The Crimean fighter was awarded the Zhukov medal for saving his comrade during a combat mission.

Our guys perform feats every day in the fight against the enemy. Often, they do not even have the opportunity to receive these awards in a formal setting. Together with the command of the units, we decided to please the soldiers with homemade pies and thank them right on the front line of the Zaporozhye direction of the Northern Military District between performing combat missions— the press service of the head of the regional executive committee of the Popular Front in Crimea quotes Alla Vertinskaya.

A fighter with the call sign “Leshy” has been defending the borders of our Motherland at the very front since the beginning of the Northern Military District. He accomplished his feat during the next combat mission without a doubt.

We were given the task of correcting the drone and determining enemy positions. The work was almost completed and came under artillery attack. The car was completely destroyed, I was stunned, but my partner suffered the most. It was difficult to determine his condition; he was unconscious and with shrapnel wounds, but most importantly, he was breathing. I managed to pull him out, requested evacuation and carried him to the point on my own in full equipment— recalls the hero.

Everything is fine with his partner, the fighter recently returned to duty, the family and the entire unit are very happy about this. And everyone thanks “Leshy” for the rescue, who honestly admits that he never even thought about leaving his comrade, although he risked his life.
