I thought it was a sign from above, but it was just a road sign — someone else’s property, for a minute. Case in Dzhankoy
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Dzhankoy, a suspect was detained for stealing… a road sign.
During worsening weather conditions, a “Transport Safety Zone” sign fell on one of the sections of the road and disappeared after some time. As a result of the search activities, operatives detained a 24-year-old local resident, who, having seen a sign lying on the side of the road, decided to pick it up for household needs— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
For what such needs did the overly economical Dzhankoy citizen need a sheet of iron, also known as a fallen road sign (see photo), history is silent. Surely he was going to sell the find for scrap metal… But that doesn’t matter anymore. According to Part 1 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft), a criminal case was initiated. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to two years. Experts in legal intricacies say that the accused has problems: this is not about personal, private property, but municipal… for a minute.
