In 2024, the forest burned 17 times in the territory of the Sevastopol forestry

At a staff meeting of the Government of Sevastopol, chaired by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev, today they discussed ensuring fire safety in the territory of the Sevastopol forestry. Thus, the city has lifted the special fire hazard regime and, as of September 27, the ban on visiting forests and the entry of vehicles has been lifted.
In 2024, 17 forest fires with an area of just over 9 hectares were extinguished within the boundaries of the Sevastopol forestry. All fires were extinguished within the first 24 hours– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the department of natural resources and ecology, Yulia Gavrilova.
In addition, fire safety measures were carried out:
- reconstruction of forest roads – out of 75 km of existing roads, 25 km were subject to reconstruction;
- clearing clearings, maintaining fire breaks — more than 90 hectares;
- cleaning and updating fire-fighting mineralized strips — more than 2000 km;
- 10 barriers have been installed, today a total of 102 barriers provide restriction of access to forests;
- 15 information boards have been installed.
Patrol routes with a total length of more than 91 thousand km were also organized.
Today, citizens are allowed to stay in forests and enter vehicles, it is also allowed to make fires, light barbecues in equipped recreation areas, moor water transport to forest areas, harvest and collect non-timber forest resources, set up tourist sites, tent camps, and equip recreation areas . It should be taken into account that some territories are classified as specially protected, and restrictions may be determined by the regulations on this territory,” said the head of Sevprirodnadzor.
The list of equipped public recreation areas in forests is posted on website Government of Sevastopol.
During the staff meeting, the governor instructed to check the signs on the Great Sevastopol Trail and put navigation aids in order.
