In Alushta, investigators uncovered the machinations of a veterinarian — he “gave the go-ahead” to illegal trade in exchange for bribes

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Alushta, a criminal investigation has been completed against the head of the veterinary and sanitary examination laboratory of the Yalta City Veterinary Treatment and Prevention Center. The official is accused of receiving a bribe in the form of property for illegal inaction (Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigative department for the city of Alushta established that in April the head of a laboratory at a local food market became aware of the intention of a local resident to sell poultry meat. For allowing the entrepreneur to trade without carrying out the necessary veterinary and sanitary examinations of the products, the official demanded a bribe from her in the form of property — a steam sterilizer worth 25 thousand rubles. After receiving the specified property, the controller ignored obvious violations of the law when trading on the part of the entrepreneur, and in cases of inspections on the market by other authorities, he warned her about this in advance— said the Investigative Committee.

The criminal activity of the official was identified and suppressed by operational officers of the OEBiPK OMVD of Russia in the city of Alushta.

During inspections and searches at the place of work and residence of the head of the laboratory, the subject of the bribe was discovered and confiscated — a steam sterilizer, as well as cash. The criminal investigation has now been completed. The accused pleaded guilty to committing a corruption crime— reported in Sledkom.

The materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of studying, approving the indictment and subsequently sending the case to court.
