In Balaklava, operatives detained a tourist suspected of stealing a smartphone from the captain of the boat

In Balaklava, a 24-year-old captain of a small boat turned to the police on duty with a statement that a mobile phone worth 25,000 rubles had been stolen from him. The police found that during the trip, one of the passengers noticed a smartphone left unattended in the boat and he had a criminal intent. After making sure that no one was watching his actions, the man secretly stole someone else’s gadget and disappeared.
He did not have time to dispose of the stolen item — as a result of operational-search measures, the criminal investigation officers detained the suspect. It turned out to be a 41-year-old tourist from a neighboring region. His involvement in the crime is confirmed by confessions and a seized stolen smartphone— told the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the city of Sevastopol.
A criminal case was initiated against the defendant under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“theft”), he faces up to 5 years in prison.
