In Crimea, 451 settlements are at risk of spreading forest and landscape fires

According to the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Sadakliev, Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea dated March 4, 2024 No. 124-r a list of settlements in the Republic of Crimea subject to the threat of forest and landscape fires has been approved.
The total number of settlements in the Republic of Crimea exposed to the threat of forest fires and other landscape fires is 451, of which 183 are directly exposed to the threat of forest fires. The same resolution of the Council of Ministers approved a list of territories for children’s recreation and health care organizations, as well as horticulture or gardening areas exposed to the threat of forest fires,” noted Sergei Sadakliev.
He also recalled that according to Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of April 25, 2012 No. 390 “On fire safety regime” In populated areas exposed to the threat of forest fires, additional fire safety requirements must be met:
— organization of a fire barrier of the established width along the entire length of the border of a populated area with a forest area;
— carrying out timely cleaning of the territory of a populated area, including fire-fighting distances between buildings and structures, as well as fire-fighting mineralized strips from flammable waste, garbage, containers, fallen leaves, dry grass;
— the serviceability of sources of external fire-fighting water supply and the implementation of technical and organizational measures to ensure their timely detection at any time of the day, access to them for water intake by fire equipment at any time of the year, as well as the sufficiency of the water supply provided for fire extinguishing purposes;
— the presence of an access road to a populated area, as well as the provision of access to buildings and structures on its territory.
