In Crimea, the prosecutor’s office of the Simferopol region supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 21-year-old resident of the region. He was found guilty under paragraph “b” of Part 6 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules, resulting by negligence in causing the death of two persons, associated with leaving the place where it was committed). It was established that the young man was transporting 5 passengers at night while driving a Skoda car in early October 2023. Moving along the Tavrida highway at a speed of 170 km/h, in the area of the village of Levadki, Simferopol region, when making a right turn, the defendant lost control of the car, allowing it to overturn. After a traffic accident, the young man fled the scene. As a result of the accident, two passengers of the Skoda car died from their injuries.,” the prosecutor’s office recalled.
The court, agreeing with the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the young man to 8 years in prison to serve the sentence in a penal colony. He was disqualified from driving for 3 years. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
