In Crimea, the prosecutor’s office of the Bakhchisaray district supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a resident of Sevastopol. She was found guilty of committing 5 counts of crimes under Part 1. 2, 3 tbsp. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
The court found that in April 2023, the girl entered into a conspiracy with a group of people involved in stealing money from elderly people. The girl called pensioners by phone and provided deliberately false information about their relatives committing an accident with serious consequences, as well as the need to transfer funds to compensate for the damage caused and for other purposes. Having received consent, the defendant came to the victims, received money from them, which she transferred to the accounts specified by the organizers. She kept part of the money for herself as a reward— reported the prosecutor’s office.
In total, the accomplices deceived 5 pensioners in this way, who transferred them funds in the amount of 100 to 500 thousand rubles. The damage from their illegal actions amounted to more than 1.1 million rubles.
The criminal actions of the attacker were stopped by employees of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Bakhchisarai region.
The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the defendant to 4 years in prison to serve the sentence in a general regime correctional colony.
The victims’ claims for damages were satisfied. In relation to other accomplices, the criminal case has been separated into separate proceedings, the investigation continues.
