In Crimea, a “healer” performed a purification ceremony and… really cleaned out a woman

In Crimea, the prosecutor’s office of the Pervomaisky district supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 41-year-old resident of the Krasnoperekopsky district. She was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
The court found that in December 2023, the convict, while in one of the villages of the Pervomaisky district, saw the victim and expressed to her her false belief that the victim was sick and in order to heal her it was necessary to perform a ritual. To carry out the ceremony, the victim gave the convict gold jewelry worth about 70 thousand rubles, which the latter allegedly buried, while in fact she appropriated it,” the prosecutor’s office provided details.
The material damage caused was partially compensated by the convicted person.
The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the “healer” to 2 years and 6 months of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 2 years. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
