In Crimea, an overly “handy” husband was held accountable for the death of his wife… “as a result of electric shock”

In Crimea, a man whose wife died from electric shock was convicted. The Bakhchisaray district prosecutor’s office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a local resident. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence).
The court found that a 58-year-old man installed a water heater in his home in 2021 in violation of the operating and installation rules. In the fall of 2023, the defendant’s wife took a shower head in her hand and took a shower, while the water heater remained on. This resulted in the woman being hit with technical electricity, from which she died on the spot— reported the prosecutor’s office.
The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the perpetrator to correctional labor for a period of 1 year 6 months with a deduction of 10% from wages to the state income. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
