In Crimea, cases of dry vegetation fires have become more frequent. Firefighters “went to the people”

CrimeaPRESS reports:

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in Crimea there is a seasonal increase in fires associated with the ignition of dry grass, reeds and garbage. Their main reasons, as in previous years, are violations of fire safety requirements by owners of private households, gardens and summer cottages when cleaning the territory.

Since the beginning of the year, fire and rescue units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have gone out more than 140 times to extinguish fires of dry grass and reeds. In order to stabilize the situation with “landscape” fires in Crimea, rescuers, together with the administration of rural settlements, carry out preventive measures aimed at preventing wild fires.

Particular attention is paid to the fire safety of populated areas, in particular, clearing areas of dry grassy vegetation and the presence of mineralized protective strips, which in the event of a forest fire will limit the spread of fire to populated areas.

Employees of the department of supervisory activities and preventive work for the Simferopol region, together with the administration of the Dobrovsky rural settlement, monitored the timely organization and implementation of measures for the construction of mineralized strips near populated areas of the region, which reduce the risk of fire spreading to residential and agricultural areas to a minimum.

The villagers themselves did not go unnoticed by government inspectors. Preventative conversations were held with them about fire safety rules as part of the fire season introduced on April 1— said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea.
