Teachers and clergy should jointly engage in the spiritual and moral education of young people.
The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, took part in the Congress of heads of educational organizations on spiritual and moral upbringing and education and the plenary meeting of the Regional stage of the International Christmas educational readings.
Addressing those present with a welcoming speech, Sergei Aksenov noted that until 2014, Russian culture was preserved in Crimea largely thanks to the clergy and teachers.
Raising educated, moral and patriotic youth is our most important task, especially now, at a time when there is a struggle for minds. Spirituality is the core of any people and any civilization. It is she who gives us the feeling of belonging to a faith, people, and Motherland. We need not only to educate our children, but also to raise them to be patriots who know the history of their country and make their own contribution to the futuresaid the Head of Crimea.
Sergei Aksyonov also expressed confidence that the joint work of the family, teachers and clergy, with the support of the authorities, on the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation will bring results.
According to the Head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, it is also necessary to cultivate gratitude in the new generation — to the family, state and society. This will help strengthen the status of a teacher and mentor.
This is the most important task of the family, school, and society. If you don’t teach gratitude, you will end up with an ungrateful generation—to parents, to the state, to society, and to the people who risk their lives for them. The easiest thing to say is: “I don’t need any gratitude.” No. Children need gratitude, otherwise they will raise the next generation of moral monsterssaid Metropolitan Tikhon.
In addition, Bishop Tikhon noted that the Crimean Metropolis is ready to help schoolchildren become acquainted with shrines and historical monuments of both ancient times and more modern ones, including the Great Patriotic War.
Also taking part in the event were Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea — Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Crimea Elena Romanovskaya, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of the Republic of Crimea Valentina Lavrik, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Interregional Public Organization «Russian Unity» Elena Aksyonova, representatives of municipal authorities education, heads of municipal, state, private educational organizations, representatives of the clergy.
