In Crimea, doctors of the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital saved a child who had swallowed a stone on the beach.
According to the doctors, the parents of a child 13 years old (childhood disabled) turned to the admission department of the hospital with complaints of salivation and refusal to eat for several days, as well as the urge to vomit. A few days before the incident, the boy and his parents were resting on the sea.
The duty shift of surgeons suspected the presence of a foreign body in the esophagus in the patient. An endoscopist was urgently called and diagnostic fibroesophagogastroduodenoscopy (FES) was performed under anesthesia, during which a stone was found in the esophagus , — said the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea.
With technical difficulties, using special medical supplies, the doctors removed the foreign body. And without complications. The duration of surgical endoscopic intervention was 60 minutes. The child’s life is out of danger.
